The Dark Knight Rises Review and Secret Origins
by Mc on Jul.23, 2012, under Podcasts
The Dark Knight has a special place in our hearts (it’s why we started this podcast) so in honour of the release of The Dark Knight Rises, this week’s podcast  focuses almost entirely on our Dark Knight Rises reviews.
Yes, I said reviews plural; one show, two reviews as we first give our spoiler-free review, discuss some emails and then go deep into the no man’s land of spoiler  territory.
Don’t worry, there’s plenty of warning before we hit the spoilers so we shouldn’t ruin anything for you, but try and keep the second half until you’ve seen (and hopefully enjoyed) Â the end of Nolan’s Batman Trilogy.
One show note this week from @darkstardave on twitter:

The break also gave us some time to build up a backlog of news and trailers to discuss including trailers for Dredd, starring Karl Urban as the old Stone Face himself; Monsters University, the prequel to Monsters Inc,; “Liam Neeson Beats up Istanbul†(aka Taken 2) the sequel to “Liam Neeson beats up France†(aka Taken) and we have a heap of quite frankly bizarre emails to go through this week featuring Terry Crews and Australians!!

Prometheus Spoiler-Cast
by Mc on Jun.10, 2012, under Podcasts
With our abiding love of Sir Ridley Scott’s work, the fantastic Alien universe he created, the sinister machinations of the Weylan (later -Yutani) company as well as our feelings on the actual film, we couldn’t just leave it at a spoiler free review of Prometheus in the main show, and so McYapandFries present our Prometheus Spoiler-cast where we hold nothing back in discussing the films plot points, ending, sucesses (and failures) and where the franchise could possibly go from here.
CONTAINS SPOILERS! Seriously it’s in the headline and everything, don’t listen if you haven’t seen Prometheus!!

Malaysia Games and Comics Convention
by Mc on Jun.04, 2012, under Podcasts
It’s not often that we’re wrong here at McYapandFries, and it’s even less often that we apologise for anything, but we are idiots on a regular basis, which is a roundabout way of saying that on last week’s cast we totally forgot to review the Malaysian Games and Comics Convention, which a certain Mr Gavin Yap presided over as head minion, a week prior.
This week’s show kicks off with our attempt at rectifying this grievous error, before we then proceed to make a whole bunch of new ones reviewing Snow White and the Hunstman; starring Kirsten Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth, reviewing super-powered “found footage†flick Chronicle, and while discussing the merits of a possible Pauly Shore comeback, Spaced (AGAIN!), Cannes, and venerable old 2000AD.
We hope you like the show
As usual here’s the show notes those of you reading along at home:

- The Red Carpet for Maniac at Cannes (the French guy’s freakout starts about 6 minutes in)

The Emperor
by Mc on May.10, 2012, under Newspost
As you may has noticed there hasn’t been a podcast since last week’s Avengers cast.
This is because a) we’re still reeling from that cinematic onslaught & b) Gavin’s been busy “shaping and directing†this year’s The Platform production The Emperor at the KL Performing Arts Centre. Full details here but if you wanna catch it you’ll have to hurry, shows finish 12th May!
Once again we’ll try and get back to a regular status once Gavin stops being so damn popular, or my dastardly plans come to fruition. What plans? That would be telling…
Best Superhero Movie Ever?
by Mc on May.01, 2012, under Podcasts
The road that began years or decades ago when you first heard of or read your first Avengers comic, or that began for us in Summer 2010 when we first saw Earth’s Mightiest Heroes assembled on stage at San Diego Comic Con, ends this week with the release of Marvel’s The Avengers in cinemas across the world (everywhere that is except America this week for some reason).
As you can guess Gavin and I “go deep” on our review in this week’s cast but for the cautious we do avoid spoilers until the 45th minute of the cast, and we very clearly state this, so you can’t blame anyone but yourself if you hear too much.
This weeks’s show also has a very quick, non-spoilery review of The Cabin in the Woods and some of the usual news for which the show notes are below, Enjoy!
- Fresh off the internet presses, it’s the third and final Dark Knight Rises trailer
- The third trailer for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus (might be best to miss if you wnat to avoid spoilers)
- First pictures emerge of Anthony Hopkins As Alfred Hitchcock
Trailer for Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3 : Dog Days the only movie to melt Gavin’s cold stone heart - Here the trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s Male stipper flick Magic Mike Starrign Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey!
- Trailer for promising prohibition crime drama Lawless
