The Yappies Awards 2013

by on Dec.13, 2013, under Podcasts

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is almost upon us and yet another year has almost passed us by. During this week’s podcast, as well as the usual news and reviews of the live action Gatchaman movie & The Lone Ranger, we took the opportunity to sum up the year in movies with our first “Yappies” awards, featuring such categories as “Movies so fucked up I didn’t even bother watching them”, “Soundtrack most likely to induce cardiac arrest”, “Best use of a Britney Spears song in a movie” and many more .

This is probably the last podcast for 2013 but if you have your own personal awards categories for this year’s crop of films, feel free to send them in to podcast@mcyapadnfires.com, or tweet them to Gavin or I  and we’ll share them on the next podcast.

Here’s the show notes:

and finally, even though it was released AFTER we recorded the podcast here’s a link to the awesome first trailer for the return of Godzilla

Fuck Space in the Ass

by on Oct.13, 2013, under Podcasts

"Don't worry, we'll fix it in post"

“Fuck space” is the only sane response to Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity which Gavin and Iain review on this week’s show along with Stallone & Schwarzenegger’s latest team up Escape Plan; Hollywood comedian love-in  This is the End; Aboriginals with soul flick The Sapphires; and Iain takes us on a nightmarish walk down memory lane with a retro review of Troll.

As usual here the links to everything we discuss on the show:

Gavin has shown an alarming obsession with this movie

Oh Shit, Jonah Hill!

by on Jul.18, 2013, under Podcasts

Oh Shit Jonah Hill!

The summer blockbuster season is in full swing, so it’s the perfect time for another McYapandFries podcast. On this week’s show we catch up on the best of the news that we missed while we were away (featuring the aforementioned Mr Hill) and review Despicable me 2, Pacific Rim, Keanu Reeves directorial debut Man of Tai Chi and we finish up with a spoiler filled review of Superman’s return in Man of Steel; it’s at the very end of the cast and we flag it pretty clearly so you can avoid spoilers if you wish).

As usual here’s the show notes for all the picture, poster and trailer news we discussed this week.

Welcome…to the Rock!

by on Jun.05, 2013, under Podcasts

This is THE man people refer to when they say, "He the man!"

Apologies in advance or the sound quality on this week”s show. The fancy expensive mic that I bought WAS plugged in and functioning  correctly however SOMEONE (I wonder who) forgot too switch audacity over from internal to external mic.

The quality of the content however is be as high (low?) as ever with reviews of Now You See Me, The Hangover Pt 3, The Perks of Being a Wallflower,  and The Great Gatsby this week, along with all the latest movie news.

Here’s the show notes:
